Ladies' Parlor

A square sitting room off the dining room, this is the room that greeted weary stage-coach travelers after entering the front door. Hanging from a brass hook on the vertical posts of the mantle is the Hinsdale Tavern ''flip dog'' that warmed the toddies customarily served to incoming 18th and 19th century guests. An iron kettle hangs from a hook on the crane in the room's Rumford fireplace.
